Medicare Supplement Plan M for MD

Maryland Medigap Plan M, effective June, 2010, a new Medicare Supplement Plan M, will be in effect as of one of two new standardized Medicare supplement plans, (along with Plan N), for residents of Maryland. The benefit of Medigap Plan M is it will lower your monthly premiums even further, working with the Medicare Part A deductible. It will not cover the Medicare Part B deductible, yet after meeting your Part B deductible, there are no doctor's co-payments and a percentage of the coinsurance will be paid by the plan.

It is predicted that the Plan M's premiums maybe be significantly lower than Plan F is currently. Plan M may be of special interest to those coming off the Medicare Advantage program, since the Medicare Advantage's premiums may rise up along with the other changes, and there may be a small difference in Plan M and Plan N premiums compared to the new Medicare Advantage premiums, such as lower premiums.
